Elder Jonathan Bird

Jonathan is serving in Indenpendence, Kansas. He said in his last letter that they are very busy, one of the busiest areas in his mission. They had 30 appointments last week, and so far they have 20.

He says that everyone smokes. They have been making No Smoking signs to post. He has been surprised by to find out how many people smoke. We really have been blessed to live in an area where we do not have to be around people who smoke.

Katie and Reed were able to see apart of Jonathan's mission. They went to Fayetteville, Arkansas, for the wedding of one of Reed's friends. Katie says it is very pretty there.

Elder Bird is in Independence, Kansas

Edler Jonathan is now in Independence, Kansas.
He says it is hot and humid, but he has been busy. He does sound alittle homesick, but his new compagion is good and he has been working hard. His new address, in case any one wants to write to him, is below.

In other important Bird Family news - Kellie is now an offical BYU student. She has been accepted for Winter seminar. Way to go Kellie!

Jonathan is now known as Elder Jonathan Bird.
He went into the MTC, wednesday, May 16th at 11:30. He was nervous, but we know he will be a great missionary.

Jonathan's Mission Call

News!

Jonathan received his mission call yesterday - March 14, 2007

He will be leaving on May 16th for Tulsa, OK.

He had a few of his friends over while he opened his letter and found out that one of them is

leaving for Tulsa in April - so he will have a friend in his mission from the start.

We are so proud of Jonathan, he will be an awesome missionary!

Bike Race

Hi, we were able to go to St. George last weekend to watch Reed race. It was a beautiful day, but still a little cool. Their race course was behind Green Valley and it was 6 miles long. The number of times around the course depended upon the "class" you raced in. Reed had to go 3 times around the course - 18 miles. When he was finished he was not even tired.

This was not a good race to him, he had 2 flat tires! He would have been 1st if he had not had the tire problems.

Reed's brother races in a different class - and he won his race! Reed's two nephews raced also, Scott - 7, and Einn - 3. The look so cute riding around on their little bikes.

Way to go Reed!

On the way home we stopped a small Slot canyon above St. George. We had a great time.
